41.
Create a dream book by going through old magazines or newspapers
and cutting out words and pictures about things you'd like to do
or have in your life. Stick them on the pages in a blank
notebook. Find some glue at your stationery store to make your
items removable (like Post Its) so you can change the pictures
and words if you want to.
42. Daydream
for ten minutes about something you'd like to do or create.
Daydreaming is similar to visualization, which is a powerful way
to get the things you want to have in your life. Make your
vision detailed and enjoyable. Create an image you love and
imagine actually having it now. You might be surprised when it
shows up unexpectedly.
43. Write
a short poem, limerick or story in ten minutes or less. Without
any inner criticism, make it as silly as possible. Remember the
point is to have fun, not write something for publication. For
an example of a really silly poem, see our Web site.
44. If
you have a graphics or paint program on your computer try
playing with it. Create something in color and print it out on a
color printer. Find some clip art to add to your creation. If
you create a bitmap when you save the file, you can use it as
wallpaper on your computer desktop. You can also make greeting
cards to send to friends. For detailed instructions check our
Web site
http://www.success77.com.
45.
Try finger
painting; let your imagination and fingers go wild! You can find
finger paints and paper at children’s toy stores, art supply
stores and the larger drug store chains. Cover your table with
old newspapers or plastic, get out your paints and paper and
enjoy making a mess! Uh, I mean art!
46.
Change
something around in your office or your home to make it look
nicer. You can move furniture, change the pillows, move pictures
etc. You also may find that you feel better when your furniture
is arranged a certain way. The Chinese art of Feng Shui, is a
way of looking at the energy flow in your living space. You
might want to read a book about it or have a specialist look at
your home and advise you. There is more information about this
on the Internet.
47.
Try writing in
a journal, without judging or criticizing what you write. Let
yourself say whatever you want about anything. This can be very
freeing. You can decorate your journal cover with a collage of
pictures and letters cut out of magazines. Then you can laminate
it for protection from water and other hazards. We have a
special report that describes exactly how to do this. See our
Web site for more information.
48.
Move the
pictures you have on your walls to other places in your home or
office. Try exchanging paintings or posters with a friend or
relative for a month or two. Changing your living environment
brings variety into your life and can increase your energy.
49.
Get out a
pencil and doodle. Drawing silly little pictures can relax you
and make you feel like a kid again. Did you do this in school
when the teacher wasn’t looking? Now you can do it all you want.
We promise not to give you any demerits.
50.
Drive home from
work a new way or take a new route to the store. If you can walk
to where you need to go, try doing that instead of driving.
51.
Draw your
feelings with colored pens. I took a workshop a few months ago
where we did this with several different emotions (here are some
ideas; love, fun, joy, appreciation, pleasure). Each emotion
got it’s own page and we put a word on the page as well. It was
very energizing. After the workshop I felt like I’d had a ”mini”
vacation.
52. Get
some crayons and paper; draw anything for ten minutes. Drawing
things freely opens your mind to new ideas and can unleash your
creativity. Remember, no criticism of your drawing allowed!
53. Do
an art or craft project you've been putting off. Be sure to plan
in advance for the time to do this. Then take out your materials
and enjoy (no self-criticism allowed!).
54. Check
out the class schedule at your local night school or junior
college. Sign up for a fun or creative class that interests
you.
55. Start
a scrapbook and think up new things to put in it. They have lots
of great items at stationery and office supply stores to help
you with this. If you already have a scrapbook, add things to it
or just get it out and look at all the fun things you’ve
collected.
56. Express
a different side of yourself by changing the way you look. Wear
a flower in your hair or through a shirt buttonhole. You could
dress in clothes you love but rarely wear. If you’re a woman,
try new makeup, a different hairstyle or a new clothing style.
If you’re a man dress in the opposite way from the one you
normally do (if you’re casual, wear dressy clothes and vice
versa) or wear a different aftershave. Try wearing a hat or
scarf if you don’t normally do this or you could
wear unusual colors or even vacation clothing just to do
something different and fun.
