Some More Exciting Ways to
Enjoy Your Life!
89.
Go through your wardrobe and see if you can come up with new
ways to mix and match your clothes. While you’re at it, look for
special things you’re no longer using and see if you can think
of a friend who might like them.
90.
Go to your local library, check out some children's books and
try reading them. One of the really fun things about these books
is that they generally always have happy endings.
91.
Join a group or club where the members do something you've always
wanted to know more about. For example you could try a gardening
club, cooking group, book club, chess club, computer club, skiing
club, or hiking club. Look in your local newspaper to get some
ideas or check out the Internet. Joining a group is also a great
way to expand your horizons by meeting new people.
92.
Get some travel picture books from the library and imagine a place
you’d like to visit. Look at a globe or world atlas and locate the
place you want to go. Cut out travel pictures from magazines and
put them in your “Dream Book”. Visualize yourself being there and
you may end up there soon!
93.
Practice the art of letting others go first when you’re driving.
Notice how good you feel by giving others the gift of the right of
way.
94.
If
you have a zoo nearby, spend half a day there or go to an
amusement park. You could also go to your local playground and
enjoy the carefree enthusiasm of the children as they play.
95.
Read something that you normally avoid because it seems
self-indulgent and enjoy it. You could also watch a TV program or
video that you normally wouldn’t - just for fun.
96.
Travel to a nearby small town or rural area and appreciate the
slower pace of life there. If you live in a rural area, travel to
a large city and visit the museum, the stores or other attractions
that you don’t find in your town.
97.
Go
window-shopping in a local town or city. Let yourself imagine all
the great things you’d like to have. You can look at clothing,
things you’d like for your home, electronic equipment, computer
equipment or even cars. Use the daydreaming technique mentioned in
tip number 41 of this booklet. You might find yourself getting
what you want very soon even if you think you can’t afford it
right now!
98.
Try cooking with ingredients or seasonings you've never tried
before. You could also try a new or exotic recipe. If you have
interesting ethnic markets in your area, go to one and look at all
the unusual items they have there. You might like to try a new
food just for fun or buy all the ingredients for your recipe.
99.
Hang out with some three-year-old children and notice how silly
they can be. See if you can be that silly also.
100.
Discover the treasures in your local library. There are videos,
books, magazines, audiotapes, DVD’s, CD's, and software. Your
library is overflowing with things for you to enjoy. Libraries
have great resources to expand your knowledge as well. Plus,
there’s even a reference librarian, who can help you to get
information on almost any topic you can imagine and it’s all
free!
101.
Bake cookies or bread. Keep some for yourself and share some with
friends or neighbors.
102.
Pick a day when you don’t have any obligations. Get in your car
and start driving without knowing where you are going. Let your
intuition guide you and you may be surprised at the adventures you
have. You might end up meeting interesting people, find a quaint
little town or see some beautiful scenery.
103.
Play with your photo album, look through it, add to it or put
stickers in it. If you don’t have one, buy an album at your
stationery or drug store. Enjoy looking through old pictures as
you place them in the new album. You could also make a point of
taking some new pictures to add to your photo collection.
104.
Do
something outrageous. Use temporary dye or color spray to
dramatically change your hair color. Buy or borrow a wild outfit
and wear it. You can get temporary hair color and wild outfits at
party supply or costume shops. Call a friend or loved one and read
them a serious or silly poem, etc.
105.
Buy a soft natural bristle brush with a long handle for scrubbing
your back. It feels great to get a body brushing from yourself in
the tub. You can also brush your skin when you’re not bathing.
106.
Look for a farmer’s market in your area and go there on market
day. If you don’t have one, try a local fruit and vegetable stand.
Look at all the interesting produce they carry and try some fresh
produce or new foods you’ve never tried before.
107.
Donate your used books to the local library. Then, when they have
a used book sale at the library, you can buy some new books at
bargain prices.
